The WCA received overwhelming support from chiropractors, staff, and patients who attended the Assembly Health Committee Hearing at 1:00 pm on Wed, Feb. 14 at the Wisconsin State Capitol to voice their opposition to Assembly Bill 920. This bill posed a serious threat to access to patient care for Chiropractic, allowing for the establishment of employer groups to jointly provide health care benefits on a self-funded basis to employees and their dependents under a health care benefit arrangement. This would eliminate the chiropractic equality provision for small group, self-funded association plans, under the guise of offering small businesses greater flexibility and cost-savings.

WCA members, Wisconsin chiropractors, staff, and patients showed up in force to the Wisconsin Capitol to oppose this harmful legislation. As a direct result of this rallying of support, the author of this bill has advised WCA that an amendment will be made to the legislation to protect Chiropractic and patient access to care.

Make no mistake; this is a victory for Chiropractic. This victory is the direct result of doctors coming together to protect this great profession and ensure the success of chiropractors in our state. Efforts of this magnitude are why the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association exists, to build success for Doctors of Chiropractic throughout Wisconsin. As a member of the WCA, you come together with your colleagues in the profession to be a part of the organization that advocates for you and your life's work. We welcome all chiropractors in Wisconsin to join together with your colleagues who are part of the WCA to make our profession even stronger. By stopping this legislation, we have shown that together, we are truly stronger.

Thank you to all doctors, staff, and patients who showed up in support of the WCA rally at the Capitol on Feb. 14. Thank you to every doctor who contacted your state legislators, legislative leadership, and Governor Walker to voice your opposition to this bill. Thank you to each doctor who rallied your patients to sign the letter opposing this bill. Each of your efforts made the difference in ensuring an amendment to this legislation that protects patient access to the services of a chiropractor.
