2017 Medicare Fee Schedule Available
Tuesday, December 20, 2016
CMS has released the final 2017 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule amounts, and providers will see virtually no increase in reimbursement next year. There was supposed to be a 0.5% increase in 2017, but, in a move similar to what occurred in 2016, this increase was lessened by the failure of CMS to reach an overall savings target.

In addition, 2017 marks the beginning of Medicare’s new quality payment program, the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). MIPS consolidates three existing quality programs: PQRS, E.H.R. and the Value-Based payment modifier. MIPS does not apply to providers in their first year of practice, or to providers who won’t see over 100 Medicare beneficiaries in 2017 and bill less than $30,000 in Medicare Part B allowed charges. If you have been participating in PQRS and/or E.H.R., we advise that you continue to do so, since many of these measures will likely translate to MIPS.
